about the role: 

The Learning Management System coordinator is responsible for ensuring the functionality and dependability of the learning management system, liaising with the LMS vendor and instructional designers, supporting healthcare and social services providers to access all educational materials and training sessions on the learning management system, and collaborating with RHO’s educational team to deliver trainings in a timely manner. 

 

day to day responsibilities:

Platform Management and Operations

  • Manages all aspects of the LMS and its associated content.
  • Manages relationship with LMS vendor.
  • Updates, maintains, and makes suggestions to improve the LMS, ensuring information provided is accurate.
  • Performs regular system audits to ensure the reliability, performance, integrity, and security of the LMS system and related data.
  • Creates, reviews and updates LMS processes, procedures, and supporting documentation.
  • Researches and makes suggestions on site enhancement opportunities and delivers innovative solutions with maximum value.
  • Works with instructors to create course shells as required.
  • Works with instructional designers to upload SCORM files as needed.
  • Manages relationships with stakeholders across Canada.

 

Testing/ Troubleshooting

  • Researches and resolves complex technical issues by acting as the technical lead.
  • Manages and prioritizes all LMS issues by liaising between the vendor, internal and external users.
  • Monitors scheduled upgrades and collaborates with IT and LMS vendor as required; notifies users of any disruption to access.

Quality Improvement & Reporting

  • Engages in ongoing data collection and quality improvement to ensure long-term efficiency of the LMS.
  • Collects and analyzes data and develops robust reporting to track trends, usage, and the effectiveness of content in alignment with the needs of users, organizational goals, and training initiatives.

User Support/ Stakeholder Relations 

  • Provides technical support and timely troubleshooting to instructors and students as needed while courses are running and when issues arise.
  • Conducts end user training, support and coaching as required.
  • Manages the LMS email inbox and responds to user inquiries.

 

 

To thrive in this role, you’ll need

education/experience:

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline
  • At least 3 years’ demonstrated experience of learning management systems administration
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with a diverse group of stakeholders.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills and ability to simplify messaging and to effectively communicate between technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to motivate, problem-solve and deal with complex issues with sensitivity and respect.
  • Project management skills and demonstrated judgement and initiative to take on multiple responsibilities, meet deadlines and manage tasks and projects with minimal supervision.
  • Familiarity with HTML, CSS, XML, and JavaScript.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office applications
  • Familiarity with uploading SCORM files to LMS.
  • Experience with web-conferencing tools such as MS Teams and Zoom.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards in resource development (AODA) is an asset.
  • Knowledge of social determinants of health for 2SLGBTQ people is an asset.
  • Lived experience as 2SLGBTQ is an asset.
  • Bilingual in English and French is an asset.

working conditions: 

  • This position requires working in a fast-paced environment meeting the needs of multiple stakeholders. Time management, multi-tasking, initiative, organization, and prioritizing are essential.
  • Work is mainly performed in an office environment. Rainbow Health Ontario’s head office is in Toronto. The LMS Coordinator may be based anywhere in Ontario and work remotely but a minimum of 2 days per month working from the head office in Toronto are required.
  • Occasional work outside of normal working hours may be required.
