The first step in understanding your system is sending logs and other telemetry to New Relic. Thousands of New Relic customers rely on their logs to detect and resolve issues by analyzing many petabytes of log data they sent using a wide variety of logging integrations. The Lead (Staff) Engineer assigned to Logging Integrations is responsible for delivering efficient technical solutions and high impact business results for the logging domain as a whole. What you'll do
  • Define and influence the overall technical direction and strategy for logging integrations
  • Drive complex cross-team projects and predictably deliver high impact business results
  • Level up the teams you work with and improve the quality of the software you work on
  • Design and build scalable, maintainable, and reliable data integration services and tools capable of efficiently handling high volumes of data across diverse configurations
  • Follow and contribute to various open source projects that customers rely on to receive, process, and forward log messages while ensuring support across multiple tool chains
This role requires
  • Previous experience as either a Lead or Senior Member of Technical Staff
  • 5+ years of experience working with high volume data processing systems, data-intensive applications, or similar large scale products e.g. APIs, SDKs
  • 5+ years of experience working extensively with various public cloud resources and cloud native technologies like Docker, Fluent Bit, Helm, Kubernetes, and OpenTelemetry
  • 7+ years of experience working as a software engineer working in Java and/or Go with a strong computer science background and an aptitude for learning new languages quickly
Bonus points if you have
  • Experience building and maintaining real-time tools to collect, process, and ship log data
  • Experience building and maintaining high throughput pipelines and distributed systems
  • Experience working on an Observability product, especially in the SaaS vendor space
