Applies subject matter knowledge in Web Accessibility to deliver accessible and inclusive technology. Improving accessibility across all HP web products and services. Assist in the coordination and monitoring of accessibility progress for products. Works with product management, engineering, design, QA, and marketing to help identify and scope accessibility features.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and maintain HP programs, processes, and tools to enable HP web designers, developers, content authors, and partner agencies to create and maintain HP’s web properties and electronic documentation
  • Develop and maintain HP programs to inform global customers and external audiences on HP’s Web Accessibility Program and respond to complaints, inquiries, and feedback
  • Monitor and influence web-related evaluation, policy, legislation, and standards, and educate team members, businesses, and global functions on their impact
  • Identify and evangelize emerging trends in web accessibility for people with disabilities and age-related limitations
  • Identify and maintain a global team of accessibility stakeholders

Locations:  Vancouver, WA, Boise, ID, or Houston, TX

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
  • Experience with the application of web accessibility evaluation, methods, and tools
  • Experience in developing web content
  • Experience working with teams with different levels of knowledge on web accessibility
  • Experience with assistive technologies such as JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver and a general understanding of accessibility-related software
  • Experience working with people with disabilities and age-related limitations
  • Experience in developing and influencing standards preferred
  • Experience with program management tools to create, manage, and track project results preferred
  • 5-10 years of experience working in web accessibility

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Track record of passion for accessibility and inclusive design
  • Strong user focus and ability to demonstrate pragmatic decision-making
  • Working knowledge of worldwide disability laws and accessibility standards
  • Demonstrated expertise in the understanding and application of WCAG 2.1
  • Demonstrated business acumen and successful experience managing all aspects of programs, including communicating with stakeholders and directing matrixed teams and resources
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language
  • Ability to interface effectively with all levels of management and functional disciplines, both within and outside HP
