We are looking for a business facing technologist to join the GFT team who will work for and deputise for the Chief Delivery Officer (CDO) as a Delivery Director (DD).

From the initiation of a project, the DD will engage and ensure that all aspects of delivery are anticipated, including, but not limited to, successful mobilisation, delivery efforts, resourcing, risk and quality together with stakeholder management (alongside sales).  The DD  will engage during pre-sales activities as required and hence should have a technology understanding of GFT’s offerings (and if needed be able to find throughout GFT the support needed for a successful win).  The DD must also be able to influence client decision-making, to present cogent delivery-related arguments that support the GFT agenda. Key activities here include team shaping,  review of any delivery commitments and liaison with our UK practices and our global delivery centres.

Finally, during the engagement and post the engagement, the DD must ensure one thing: delivery excellence.  GFT’s reputation relies on the successful implementation of projects, not just in terms of the time-line and management of risks, but the excellence of our delivery. That includes engagement with the client to ensure continuous improvement; proactive two way feedback; bringing to bear insights and market intelligence; identifying wider opportunities within our accounts; managing things such as change requests; proactive management of unforeseen issues, etc. To that point the DD will act as a first responder – the natural escalation point beyond the project team leadership for client issues, engaging with the CDO as required to ensure engagements are brought back on track.

The DD, under the CDO, will be responsible for programmes of projects assigned by the CDO and must be able to interact and collaborate internationally with GFT’s international delivery units which may be in locations such as Poland, Spain and Brazil in addition to the local UK resources.

Technical Skills

Required experience:

  • A rounded knowledge and hands on experience of application development and  technology modernisation, leveraging contemporary technologies such as DevOps, Agile and Cloud Technologies
  • Experience of managing large, complex, business facing technology delivery projects
  • Experience managing project and portfolio financial performance
  • Experience managing global technology delivery teams
  • Stakeholder Management, experience of fixing project related issues in a timely fashion, ranging from hands on problem solving where necessary through to the associated “C-Level” and “D-Level” stakeholder management

Additional experience:

  •  Experience of Agile & DevOps transformation
