The candidate will also provide direct support to the Leak Detection Assessment and Support Team with leak analysis and leak detection system support.

What you will do:

Responsible for the design, construction, deployment, commissioning, optimization, and support of complex and/or innovative CPM-based leak detection systems.

  • Perform statistical analysis and data mining using state-of-the-art methods for getting insights from data and uses results to provide input into leak alarm analysis and leak detection system performance improvements.
  • Design, configure, and implement automation applications to optimize efficiency and simplify leak detection workflows and optimize efficiency without risk of error.
  • Lead implementation teams to update/upgrade leak detection systems, including the development of implementation checklists and required quality control checks.
  • Execute applicable procedures and follow best practices and guidance documents
  • Provide recommendations to Leak Detection Management on the development of new leak detection modeling standards, processes, procedures, documentation, and training.
  • Review and regularly updates all leak detection model documentation to ensure latest standards and review cycles are followed.
  • Monitor production leak detection systems, perform deep root-cause analysis, and implement required updates following Management of Change processes.
  • Provide 24/7 backup on-call support to Leak Detection Analysts on a rotational basis.
  • Deliver onboarding and mentorship to junior members of the Leak Detection Team.
  • Support and/or leads department initiatives as required.
  • Participate in incident reviews and risk assessments, provide technical input, and complete assigned corrective and risk mitigation actions.
  • Evaluate leak detection systems and develop recommendations to Leak Detection Management for additional instrumentation to achieve improved performance with appropriate justification; and assist with submissions into capital budget cycles and long-range planning program.
  • Provide information and technical expertise in responding to regulatory requests.
  • Participate in the Enbridge safety culture and contribute to industry organizations (such as API) focused on evolving leak detection technology and regulations by presenting at conferences and providing input to new industry standards.

Who you are:

You have:

  • A University degree in Engineering with a Professional Engineer designation.
  • A minimum of 6+ years of experience in Hydraulic Modeling and/or Computer Programming.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills who delivers high-quality work and can adapt to new challenges in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, either on their own or as part of a team.
  • Advanced knowledge of pipeline hydraulics.
  • Previous experience in real-time transient modeling or statistical modeling.
  • Demonstrated ability to program software in a complex multi-system environment.
  • Applied knowledge of Python programming.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

The following are considered assets:

  • University Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computing Science, Information Systems, or other relevant fields.
  • Graduate Degree – including MSc., MEng., and PhD.
  • Understanding of North American leak detection related regulatory requirements such as API-1130, API-1149, API-1175, CSA Z662 Annex E.
  • Experience with the Machine Learning technologies, techniques, and tools.
  • Knowledge of Control Centre operations and SCADA systems.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is conducted in an office environment (with the FlexWork option, if eligible) during regular business hours.
  • Participates in 24/7 on-call backup rotation to support Leak Detection Analysts and production leak detection systems.
  • May be required to assist with incident investigations after hours.
  • May travel within North America to participate in fluid withdrawal tests or attend training.
