The Position

Bitly is seeking an experienced Sr. Platform Engineer to help build, improve, and maintain our Infrastructure, application platform, and developer experience. The Platform Team designs, builds and maintains the core infrastructure that supports our product. You’ll help create a scalable and reliable platform that enables developers to solve complex technical challenges with the user experience in mind. You’ll champion standards and discover new ways to leverage our cloud-native capabilities and other business assets. As part of the platform team, you will support all the teams across our global engineering organization and have a significant role in our robustness. You will collaborate closely with our product and engineering teams to understand their needs and provide solutions that meet their requirements.

Your Challenge

  • Design, implement, and maintain a reliable and scalable cloud infrastructure for our AWS-native platform.
  • Collaborate closely with other teams to identify, solve and support technical challenges.
  • Develop automation and infrastructure as code (IaC) using Terraform to provision and manage cloud resources and infrastructure components.
  • Write code using Golang and Node.js to create APIs and services that enable other teams to build, test, and deploy our products efficiently.
  • Continuously monitor the platform’s performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement changes to improve scalability, reliability, and availability.
  • Develop and maintain APIs, services, and tools that enable our development teams to build, test, and deploy our products with speed and reliability
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in cloud computing, infrastructure automation, and software engineering, and apply them to the platform as appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for the platform, including architecture diagrams, runbooks, and technical guides.
  • Mentor and coach engineers on the team, providing guidance on technical skills and best practices, as well as fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and innovation.

Your Skills

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Experience in software engineering, with a focus on building scalable and reliable platforms
  • Strong experience with AWS and its services (ECS, S3, RDS, CloudFront, Kinesis etc.)
  • Strong experience with Terraform for infrastructure as code
  • Programming skills in Golang and Node.js
  • Experience with API design and development
  • Strong experience with DevOps practices and tools (CI/CD, monitoring, logging, etc.)
  • Experience in leading technical initiatives and mentoring junior engineers

Nice to have:
 

  • Familiar with PHP and the PHP Ecosystem
  • Experience with OAuth2 and OpenID Connect
  • Experience in managing infrastructure on GCP
