The SysOps team supports the Platform Operations group that manages, monitors, and maintains Akamai's servers and network infrastructure.

Work teams across Akamai

The team develops and supports Linux software packs that are implement on the production network. These efforts drive a robust infrastructure critical to maintaining the distributed and highly available content delivery and cloud services platform.

As a Sr. Platform Operations Engineer, you will be responsible for:

• Working with Platform Operations to understand their processes, procedures, workflows and tooling.
• Having a technical knowledge with a focus on configuring, administering, and developing applications in a Linux/Unix environment.
• Working with Custom Engineering to maintain and release Linux software components that will operate on the production network.
• Developing new and maintain existing command-line and web-based tools to improve and streamline operations workflows.
• Building and maintaining the rapid development platform in dev and production environments for SysOps software and tooling.
• Developing and maintaining documentation and procedures for these software products.

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have 8 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree
• Demonstrate advanced technical skills in troubleshooting and problem resolution
• Have knowledge of SQL and familiarity with developing complex queries to extract data from multiple data sources
• Demonstrate knowledge of full stack web application development including front-end and back-end engineering, deployment, and operation.
• Experience deploying and operating complex Linux web application environments.
• Have knowledge of current industry practices including continuous integration/delivery, collaborative development, revision control, automation and containerization technologies.

Compensation

Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base salary for this position ranges from $93,656 - $140,803/year; a candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
