Session: Tricks & Tips to Navigate the Tech World
In my sociology class in college I learnt about the theory of intersectionality, simply put it means that a person being of a certain gender, coming from a certain socioeconomic background, being in say a certain industry so on and so forth determines the experience he/she has and also the lens through which he or she perceives this world. So, as I was pondering on what message do I want to convey, I just thought what could be better than the lessons I have learnt because of my positionality of being a woman in the tech industry for 7 years. So hop on as we unravel the tricks and tips of navigating the tech world!
Bio
Being a true nomad, I have lived across 13 cities and had my schooling done in more than 10 schools. These early experiences have helped me gain skills to adapt and renew myself for the opportunities I encounter. After completing my graduation from an IIT, India's most prestigious technical institute, I joined Visa Inc. I currently am a Senior Software Developer with an experience of three years and look forward to moving to Product Management in future.
Being part of the tech ecosystem for a long time and facing difficulties myself to navigate through it, I really hope to help young girls specially from developing countries who like me may lack mentors. The years of rich experience I have had has helped me make a cheat sheet of the do's and don'ts to sail successfully through this industry. I am passionate to share it with fellow women and hope to make some small difference in their lives.
Apart from being part of the tech industry, I am also an active member of Toastmasters International , having served as a VP and won several accolades. I am an avid cyclist and love to take part in Virtual Cyclothon!!
