Session: Networking for Support
Many of us seek out the support and guidance of others in our field and in the companies we work in to support our overall growth, leadership capability, operational maturity…and many, many more areas. However straightforward this exercise sounds, it may prove daunting or difficult at different stages of our careers. When you are first starting out, you may not be able to find the person you need to support you due to access, visibility, or experience versus when you are more senior and options of mentorship or sponsorship from above starts to diminish and you need to seek it out more laterally than vertically.
This talk will practically address the tenets of Mentorship, Sponsorship, and Allyship as more of a progression rather than as distinct ideas to be defined and delivered by one person. As someone who has progressed in my career often in pursuit and finally leading on those three tenets, I am bringing my network of people who help me to actualize and critically think about how I measure myself on all three.
