Session: Neurodivergence in Women in Tech – Superpowers on the Squad
1/5 of women working in tech are neurodivergent. I am one of them. In this presentation, I share the story of how I have survived and thrived in my technology career, despite living with a mix of complex diagnoses including ADHD, dyslexia and dual exceptionality.
I will cover:
- Being a neurodivergent woman in a male-dominated, neurotypical industry
- How COVID and TikTok contributed to normalizing neurodivergence
- The special skills neurodivergent women can bring to tech roles
- Tips for success: how I summon (and manage) my superpowers in the workplace
- What employers have done to support me – and what you can do to support others or advocate for yourself
My story is not easy and it’s not over, despite the success I have found so far in tech. In telling it to others, I hope to inspire others like me to embrace their superpowers and be the competitive advantage their career has been waiting for.
