Session: Being called the "Loudest voice in the room" to "That was amazing"!!
Through my journey into corporate & tech for the past 15 years, I have been called out by many of my male peers as "one of the loudest voice in the room" often. I have spent a significant amount of time as a young coder to fight my urge to voice my opinions, even when I knew I was right, my ideas were brightest in the room, but my voice always seemed to be lost. I learnt to use the moments when I was put down or my voice was lost in the louder voice , to work on how to survive & then shine in my career- cutting through the noice. The corporate business world can be a harsh place for women & often when you are have strong opinions & voice brilliant ideas, it makes you an intimidating women. Currently every day I am a voice in the room with strong ideas & encouraging equality as a culture.I have been mentoring a lot of my fellow women in tech on how to navigate unconscious bias & gender bullying. My talk will be about my journey , I will share the stories of how I foster a balanced work culture for my teams & how I encourage women in corporate tech to not be afraid of being the loud one in the room & how to find your path to shine through the minority cultures.
