Session: Coaching or Mentoring? What should be your stance?
Coaching and mentoring are both forms of developmental relationships that aim to support an individual's growth and development. However, they differ in their approach and focus. Coaching is a structured and results-oriented process where a coach works with an individual to help them achieve specific goals. However mentoring require more hands-on experience sharing. This session will explore the benefits of both mentoring and coaching, how to decide when to apply which, and how they can be leveraged in various roles. At the end of the session, you will get many useful tips from boths end of the table, as a mentor/coach and mentee/cochee.
Bio
Birge Elif Kahraman started her career in 2009 and worked as a project manager, Scrum Master, and Agile Coach. Before joining agile42, she coached various teams and companies in Telecommunication, Finance, Ecommerce, and Service domains. Birge supports teams in analyzing their impediments and reflecting on the next steps, creating a trustful environment where they can communicate and collaborate. She likes to research new frameworks and form innovative workshops and trainings to ground self-sufficient, solution-oriented, and high-performing teams. She has a data-driven and pragmatic approach, which helps her tailor her coaching unique to the company culture and the reality of the teams. Birge is a big fan of lean thinking, positive psychology, and situational leadership. Birge volunteers as a mentor in various programs for young female professionals and talks in international and local conferences.
