Session: Building for scale - how to build a global organization from the ground up
This talk is designed to help tech leaders learn the fundamentals and pitfalls of building and scaling a large global organization. During her 20min session, Amanda will share her experience in building large, diverse teams both from scratch as well as merging local established organizations to achieve global parity. Using real life examples, she will share how she overcame common challenges in defining a global vision, getting stakeholder buy in, requesting funding, hiring/developing, receiving pushback and inspiring diversity.

Amanda Whiteside currently leads Worldwide Customer optimization and enablement at Amazon Web Services (AWS), responsible for a global organization (+200) of senior leaders and specialists across Product, Program and Tech functions with the core objective to simplify the pre-sales and post-sales experience for our customers. Amanda specializes in partnering across cross-functional teams; building diverse organizations to help deliver the product roadmap and acts as a strong advocate in improving the experience for AWS customers globally.
