Responsible for product safety and regulatory compliance activities for HP PWP devices and accessory equipment sold worldwide. Includes monitoring new regulations, certificate submissions, approvals for customer support and market surveillance. Mission to assure that HP delivers safe and legal products to customers fast and at a low cost in the domains of safety, EMC, and energy product regulations. The position will be located in Corvallis, Oregon; San Diego, California; or Vancouver, Washington and will work closely with HP product generation organizations, supply chain, and country business teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure product conforms to worldwide regulations for machinery safety and accreditation requirements
  • Host 3rd party field inspections for electrical safety at customer sites, R&D facilities, and production facilities
  • Work with 3rd party testing agency (ex. TUV SUD, TUV Rhineland, CSA, UL)  to obtain safety approvals for CE mark and NRTL listings
  • Deliver fast, accurate, and on-time certification approvals with cost efficiency.
  • Track and manage technical regulatory requirement/activity for multiple projects - ensure that new product introduction timelines are on schedule with certification approvals.
  • Approve and track product engineering change requests to press platforms
  • Interface with both HP internal groups (product generation organizations and country business team) as well as authorities/agencies.
  • Engage with TRSE (technical regulatory standards engineer) to obtain regulations and requirements with clear interpretation to HP product compliance.
  • Provide unambiguous regulatory requirements to HP business, R&D, supply chain, and manufacturing.
  • Work closely with HP business teams to follow up/manage the agency regulation dynamics (such as regulations, requirements, lead-time and cost changes, as well as regional specific issues.). Review/track on agency costs.
  • Support customer specific safety requirements as needed to develop new solutions for the product platform
  • Support/present agency certifications to facilitate HP business needs
  • Support workplace safety surveillance activities as required to support worldwide customers.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in Electrical & Electronic, Mechanical Engineering, or related science discipline
  • 5+ year experience in product certifications including regulatory standards and code requirements, both in United States and internationally. Good technical understanding on EMC/Safety/Telecom testing standards and requirements.
  • Familiar with IT electronics or PC related technologies required.
  • Experience of interface with worldwide safety inspection agencies.

 

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English.
  • Good people skills. Able to create relationship and connection with regulatory authorities.
  • Autonomous and ability to work in remote environment (team and management chain).
  • Good organizational and project management skills.
  • Leadership qualities: high integrity team player, attention to detail, timeline sensitive, result oriented, self-motivated.
  • Ability to effectively communicate program plans, proposals, and results, and negotiate options at management levels.
