Job Summary

Cloud Volume Engineering is R&D wing of Public Cloud Services Business unit responsible for building 1stparty cloud integrated, fully managed, high performance scalable Cloud storage solution across Azure, GCP and AWS. Cloud Volume Engienering is agile and fast paced. As a Director of Software Engineering, you will utilize strong management and technical competencies to set objectives and develop strategies for the Cloud Volume Engineering Organization. You will provide direction and leadership to senior managers and technical leads focused on developing and testing Azure NetApp Files which is a 1st party SAAS offering of NetApp in partnership with Microsoft. These committed teams develop enhancements to existing products, as well as develop new products. As part of the Research and Development function, the overall focus of the group is on the competitive market and customer requirements, technology advances, product quality, product cost and time-to-market.

Job Requirements

• Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential, especially presentation skills.

• An in-depth understanding of concepts related to Cloud native architectures, CI/CD Pipeline, Agile methodologies.

• Prior experience with developing budgets and controlling costs.

• A demonstrated ability to manage professional level employees and complex projects.

• Extensive hands-on experience operating mission-critical services in production environments which are required to have high availability and reliability.

• Understanding of Microsoft Azure or GCP or AWS.

• Understanding of Storage Systems and cloud storage (Nice to have)

Job Responsibility

Responsibility:

• This position is responsible for managing all Azure NetApp Files (ANF) work being done at NetApp Bangalore. This includes but is not limited to Integrated Backup, Protocol, File Access Logs and Billing/Metrics responsibilities.

• This position directs and controls the activities of a group of engineers working on Azure NetApp Files (ANF) with significant content, product, and/or project outcomes.

• The focus of this role is on translating functional strategies into operational plans and priorities. May develop functional strategies.

• The potential impact of decisions made by this individual has significant operational or financial impact on the overall success of the function or company outcomes.

• This individual will use in-depth knowledge to solve issues that are complex in scope and establish medium to long- range plans.

• This individual is accountable for managing the assigned budget.

Essential Functions:

• Design, develop and implement operating policies that ensure the operations’ effective achievement of objectives.

• Lead a team comprising of Engineering Managers, technical leads and engineers working on Azure NetApp Files (ANF) which is a 1st party storage service offered by NetApp in partnership with Microsoft.

• Work collaboratively with other senior leaders to establish strategic plans and objectives.

• Participate in corporate development of methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for projects, programs, and people within your area of responsibility.

• Develop budgets for approval and ensure adherence once budget is approved.

• Utilize previously technical, project management, and people management experience to actively lead strategic regional and global projects.

• Control of planning, staffing, budgeting, and managing expenses.

• Drive innovation for customer value, product velocity and quality.

Education

15+ years of Experience in software development and management role. 9+ years of experience in management/leadership role.

Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science is required
