Reflecting on My Journey

As a Women in Tech Global Awards 2024 winner, what does this recognition mean to you, and how does it reflect your journey and impact in tech?

As a woman technology professional, after reflecting on receiving the Women in Tech Global Award 2024, I’d emphasize the importance of mentorship in career development, particularly for early-career individuals. Drawing from my own personal experience of navigating a career without formal mentorship, I aimed to pay it forward by actively mentoring others in the technology sector. This award highlights how recognition through industry awards can serve as a platform to advocate for increased mentorship opportunities and support systems within the tech community. The focus on even helping a single mentee demonstrates a practical, grassroots approach to addressing the mentorship gap in the technology industry.

In my experience, the most rewarding aspect of working in the tech industry is the constant opportunity to innovate and solve real-world problems. I have been fortunate to be able to do my part in healthcare, cybersecurity, and currently in audiobooks domain. My Tech Career Milestone

Could you share a defining moment or a key achievement in your tech career that has been particularly impactful or meaningful to you?

One defining moment in my tech career came when I led a team to design and develop business intelligence capabilities to help support healthcare IT and cardiologists to gain insights in their operational efficiency. The project was particularly challenging because we had to integrate disparate data sources and use new technologies to ensure the system remained scalable and user-friendly in order for them to be able to create adhoc reports. The process involved tight collaboration across cross functional teams, and there were moments when we faced unexpected technical hurdles.

What made this achievement particularly meaningful was not just the successful launch, but the growth I experienced as a leader. I had to navigate complex problem-solving, make tough decisions under pressure, and foster an environment where my team felt empowered to contribute their ideas. Seeing the feature positively impact the product’s success and knowing that it was a result of teamwork and persistence gave me a deep sense of fulfillment. It reinforced my passion for tackling complex problems and underscored the value of collaboration in tech, shaping how I approach future projects and leadership roles.
