Women in Tech Mentoring Program
I am a staff software engineer with ~6 years of working at Facebook. I started programming in college as an elective for my major (chemistry). I fell in love and switched to study computer science. I started at Facebook as an intern and worked my way up through the ranks.
I worked as a tech lead for several years, leading teams to deliver on exciting projects (gaming, integrity, etc). I was a real generalist, picking up new skills and responsibilities based on the goals of the team/product. I worked on frontend/backend, as a project manager, architect, mentor, etc etc. My readiness to learn & focus on the big picture helped me succeed in my career.
I am currently in the midst of a career shift -- away from big social media tech and toward smaller ventures focused on social or planetary good. These are my real passions, and I'm excited to make this change.
