Session: The Future of Mental Health: Can Technology Help Us Become Happier?
“Mental health is more than the absence of mental disorder” - The World Health Organization.
The world of mental wellbeing has changed dramatically over the past decade and gained tremendous momentum during COVID-19.
As demand grew, so did the market, with more than 1.5 billion dollars invested in 2020 in teletherapy alone. Many new mental health apps were released into the market, reaching a new record of >10K mental health apps available in 2021.
What does the future hold for our mental wellbeing? Can tech help remove the barriers and stigma surrounding the subject?
In my talk, I provide several potential answers to these questions.
With mental health becoming more and more accessible, people will start using preventative mental wellbeing solutions and not just wait for mental disorders to knock on their doors. We will see mental health improving faster thanks to advances in technology (ML, VR, and more) and research. We will be able to continuously improve the mental and social skills that matter to us, in a more personalized way. Taking care of our Mental wellbeing is already becoming an important part of our lives, paving the way for a brighter (& happier!) future for us all.
