QE Project Manager

  

Job Description:

   

As technical project manager you will be working within the Quality Engineering Linux Systems Group department. As owner of the QE workflow, you control the QE teams backlogs as primary stakeholder.

What you are responsible for:

  • Manage the expectations and requirements from other departments towards the various Linux products.
  • Define the scope and requirements of the QE workflows and activities.
  • Assures that current and future product requirements are properly covered by QE teams.
  • Oversee all stages of the QE workflow and its completion and therefore ensures product stays on schedule and adheres to the deadlines.
  • Create and maintains contingent planning for work forces and required hardware.
  • Support the director and product owners in balancing workloads, hardware resource and team sizes.
  • Participate in product interlocks and Go/No-Go decisions.
  • Be aware of product inter-dependencies, constantly monitors the quality of the Linux products.
  • Report product status to Release Management and Product Management.
  • Coordinate and liaise with all stakeholders of the product: Release Management, Product Management, Development and Support.
  • Collect feedback from customers directly and indirectly, and pass these feedback to the Engineering and QE department to continuously improve our product quality.
  • Represent the QE department internally and externally and acts as the primary go-to-person for other departments within SUSE.

Required skills and experience:

  • Proven experience in technical project management of software; certification in e.g. PMP, IPMA is a big plus.
  • Good understanding of software quality assurance concept, (agile) software development and various test methodologies.
  • Excellent written, verbal English communication and interpersonal skills, with experience of working in a virtual and distributed environment.
  • Being able to navigate at ease through a culturally diverse matrix organization.
  • Ability to negotiate with the team and others to reconcile differences, ability to seek agreement and consensus across boundaries.
  • Ability to understand social perceptions. Being aware of others’ reactions and understand why they react as they do.
  • Experience in driving and delivering a product of high complexity.
  • Proactive mindset. Being able to see the big picture and to foresee problems and make process improvements continuously.
  • General Linux knowledge.
