Many women in STEM fields experience the psychological phenomenon known as imposter syndrome, where they doubt their accomplishments and fear being exposed as a "fraud". Career advisory services can teach us that the first step in overcoming imposter syndrome is understanding its root causes, such as societal stereotypes and a lack of representation in STEM fields. Recognizing these external factors can help women reframe their self-perception and begin to conquer their feelings of inadequacy.
