Software Engineer Senior (Cloud Networking) - Remote

Join our Cloud Networking Products team!

We are a team of 11 software engineers specializing in networking software. The team is self-organizing and can impact product requirements and decisions. As part of Akamai's Cloud Compute team, we enable customers to secure and isolate their resources and workloads on the Akamai Connected Cloud, by designing and implementing networking products such as the upcoming Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) functionality, Cloud Firewall and VLAN.

This role provides an opportunity to make a significant impact on Akamai's growing cloud offerings, requiring a combination of system design, programming and debugging skills, an obsession with code quality, and independence. You must have a passion to manage projects, get things done quickly and get them done right.

As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for:

• Helping build out cloud platform functionality that sets up, manages, and protects networking in the cloud.
• Building the core software components in Go, but also being ready to work in other languages as needed.
• Designing, implementing, reviewing, documenting, and testing high quality code in close collaboration with your team.
• Working closely with local peers, and coordinating with teams globally as part of building on new features or dealing with bugs from users.

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have experience with object-oriented programming languages, such as Java, C++, C#, or Go.
• Have solid skills in writing, testing and understanding complex computer software.
• Be experienced in technical design, product specifications reviews, projects and backlog planning.
