Academic excellence awards in STEM, while beneficial for acknowledging individual achievements and inspiring women, have limited capacity in narrowing the gender gap in technology. This gap results from a complex combination of factors, including but not limited to societal stereotypes, unequal opportunities, and systemic biases within educational and professional settings. Consequently, a broader range of interventions is required to create a more inclusive and equitable tech industry.
