While academic excellence awards in STEM are essential in recognizing and rewarding the hard work of women in technology fields, they cannot, by themselves, close the gender gap. The technology sector's gender disparity is rooted in deeper issues such as cultural biases, a lack of early encouragement in STEM for girls, and workplace environments that do not support diversity and inclusion. Efforts to close the gap must be comprehensive, addressing educational, social, and professional challenges women face in technology.
