Technical Product Manager - Rancher Ecosystem and Tools

  

Job Description:

   

SUSE is seeking a technical product manager to join the Rancher product team. In this role you will guide the direction of integrated tools in Rancher. Working cross-functionally with our customers, engineers, community, and other product teams you will define and prioritize new features and updates. The successful candidate will be passionate about cloud native technologies with some hands-on experience running, developing applications and complementary tooling. Additionally, the ideal candidate is someone who can identify the needs of our customers because they have been there.  

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Maintain and prioritize a roadmap for updating tools and projects across the Rancher platform. Make recommendations based on need and urgency to fit in to the overall Rancher product roadmap. 

  • Track upstream project roadmaps and ensuring Rancher is aware of relevant updates and features. Maintaining a set of priorities to deliver these capabilities to Rancher users. 

  • Meet with customers and upstream project communities to capture requirements and deliver roadmap updates as necessary. 

  • Monitor the community issues on Rancher’s GitHub repositories and manage roadmap feature enhancements and bug fixes to increase open source adoption of the platform.  

  • Deliver product requirements docs for new features, bug fixes and UX changes to the platform.  

  • Work with engineering teams to ensure proposed solutions address customer needs and use cases. 

  • Engage with Rancher and cloud native tooling users in online forums, Slack, meetups and conferences.  

  • Collaborate with product marketing on functional updates. 

  • Write/review product blogs for new features and functionality to support launch activities. 

  • Work with field engineering, support, and engineering to find solutions within existing product capabilities.  

  • Ensure product documentation describes the capabilities of the product features.  

 

Requirements: 

  • 3-4 Years of experience in a product management, product development, or customer success role. 

  • Strong familiarity with open source projects and Kubernetes. 

  • Experience working with engineering teams. 

  • Understanding of software development lifecycle. 

  • Familiarity with DevOps, IT operations and SRE tooling and best practices. 

  • Understanding of cloud architecture and deployment strategies. 

  • Ability to make and defend decisions.
