Role - Research Integrity Specialist, Assurance

About the role
The Research Integrity Specialist, Assurance is responsible for using audit activities to assess and assure procedural quality across Springer Nature’s Journals programmes, according to Springer Nature and industry protocols, and in order to protect and enhance reputations. This involves delivering the activities necessary for audits of procedures across key functions that ensure quality and integrity in research publishing, under direction from and in close collaboration with the Head of Research Integrity, Assurance and other members of the Research Integrity, Assurance team. The Research Integrity Specialist, Assurance may also represent and contribute to industry-wide initiatives on behalf of Springer Nature.
Core Responsibilities
Strategy

Contribute to design of strategies, standards, and plans for successful ‘audits’ with the Head of Research Integrity, Assurance, and implement activities. Design audits to ensure adherence with the policies and standard procedures Springer Nature follows to ensure integrity. Ensure integrity audits align with and complement audits conducted by the Internal Audit team. Conduct audits across Publishing, Operations (Production and Technology) and other teams and vendors.

Suggest new approaches for research integrity audit and assurance. Stay up to date with developments in research integrity, as well as audit approaches and techniques.

Negotiate, persuade, influence and gain support for plans and activities across teams and stakeholders internally and externally.
Operations

Organise your own work effectively. Undertake and complete planned audits to quality and time targets.

Manage workflows, meetings, create documentation, and communications to ensure your contributions to the RIG Assurance programme are sufficiently well-organised, understood, transparent and open.

Deliver RIG Assurance audits appropriately, and work successfully with other colleagues towards required outcomes. Use sophisticated thought and judgement to identify recommendations from audit findings, often in collaboration with other teams. Deliver recommendations to stakeholders. Check that audit recommendations are implemented. Support team members and colleagues to establish quality and integrity in research publishing.

Engage successfully with colleagues across Springer Nature, including colleagues who are senior managers through to colleagues who are early career professionals. Partner with the Internal Audit Team where appropriate. Engage successfully with external stakeholders.

Experience of research and scholarly publishing, and business issues related to research integrity and publishing ethics.

Knowledge of related functions and disciplines within research publishing and their contributions to strategy, particularly but not limited to in editorial, publishing, operations teams.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree (or higher) or equivalent experience.
