New Relic is seeking an  experienced Manager to lead our Sales Compensation team. The Sales Compensation Manager, will be the business owner for the sales compensation system, Xactly. You’ll be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the monthly commission calculations and payment process, including monthly journal entries to the accounting team and payment information to the payroll team. This role requires a solid understanding of the sales compensation function and interdependencies, strong leadership and communication skills, analytical and problem solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

This role reports to the Director, Sales Compensation.

What you'll do
  • Lead the commission team in timely and accurately calculating and recording monthly commissions for sales incentive employees
  • Develop and maintain procedures and controls to minimize errors and exceptions and ensure compliance with company policies
  • Optimize the incentive compensation system to streamline processes, increase efficiency and improve timeliness and accuracy of commission expense
  • Manage the system update process for annual planning including documenting business requirements, calculation updates, testing and new year plan roll out
  • Prepare commission-related reporting and analysis for key stakeholders
  • Analyze commission data to identify trends, opportunities for improvement and risks
  • Build and manage a team of commission analysts, providing development opportunities as the company grows.

This role requires
  • 8+ years of experience in sales compensation or related fields
  • Strong understanding of commissions function including data sources for commission calculations and other system and process dependencies 
  • Solid knowledge of commission accounting principles and importance of accuracy and completeness
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make sound recommendations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient with Xactly or other incentive compensation software
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce
  • Leadership ability, a track record of successfully managing individuals
