Activism and the Controversy of Censorship

Women activists and those speaking out on social issues often find themselves at the mercy of social media platform’s vague policies on harassment and hate speech. While the intention behind these policies is to protect users, women advocating for change frequently report their content being removed or their accounts being suspended without clear justification. This suggests that, in practice, social media platforms may not be doing enough to distinguish between harmful content and activism, inadvertently contributing to the censorship of women’s voices.
