⚡️ Save the date: Women in Tech Global Conference 2023 will take place on May 9-12!
Tell us about your experience as a Women in Tech Global Conference 2022 speaker.
I loved getting the opportunity to speak at the Women in Tech Global Conference! It was so encouraging to see so many women and allies spending time together learning from one another and encouraging one another. During my talk, it was incredibly uplifting to see all of the kind comments and positive feedback. And I'm glad that I got to make many connections with other women that will allow us to stay in touch and continue to lift each other up long after the conference.
What is your favorite thing about working in tech?
My favorite thing about working in tech is getting to solve problems that help people. I think that connection with the humans that benefit from technology is something that women especially bring to the table. I get to learn about all sorts of cool new tools and solutions and then help implement them in the real world. Seeing that pay-off and the way it impacts people is the best.
What advice (and tips) would you give to women who want to start a tech career?
Your different perspective as a woman in tech is (and will be) your superpower. Often, women entering a technical field or career feel like they need to conform to "normal" behavior and talk and solutioning, and the opposite is much closer to the truth. We think about problems differently, we communicate differently, we handle projects and people differently ... and all of those are good things that help us stand out and approach problems in a way that the average technician might not imagine. This brings a new perspective and approach to our companies or our clients and is something that we should embrace and empower.
Who would you recommend to join the WomenTech Network?
I think any woman that is in a technical field, wants to be in a technical field or wants to advocate for women in technical fields should join. Networks are powerful things and help us all get our voices heard.
