Session: Legal by Design - accelerating your business model success
The digitisation of business processes and business models brings with it a host of issues and changes. Legal issues are often an afterthought, so that selection processes, workshops and employee motivation have already been addressed, and lawyers have sometimes to disappoint the stakeholders because legal challenges have been overlooked. The legal by design approach considers legal issues from the scratch and is ideally placed to help shape the selection, design and customisation. Close contact with legal counsel or the in-house legal team avoids frustration. Of course, the legal advisor is called upon to help shape the process creatively and to recognise and contribute as an enabler.
Bio
A pivotal moment in my career was introducing the role of the IT lawyer in Germany, at a very early stage of the digital transformation, against many odds, but with the reward of being elevated to "the face of digital law" in the IT legal community.
I am a very active leader in the German Bar Association, served the board 12 years, including four years as vice president. I am the President of the Executive Committee for International Business Law. I am also committed to my local activities at the Berlin Bar Association, treasuring the financial growth and shaping the legal discourse as editor-in-chief of the Berlin Bar Association magazine.
