Our Akamai Defense team works with breadth and depth across Akamai's technology stack. We deliver custom solutions for our Public Sector customers. The team has successful relationships across our Architecture, Engineering, and Operations groups. We strive to build and operate world-class systems and services for our customers.

Shape the Next Generation Environment of our Government Customers

Our Government Operations team manages, monitors, and maintains Akamai's remote servers and network infrastructure. The team also performs software installation and configuration changes, develops tools and scripts for workflow management, and manages other projects related to the global networks.

As a Platform Operations Engineer II, you will be responsible for:

• Monitoring, troubleshooting, and correcting emerging platform problems using an alert driven workflow.
• Collaborating with Engineers, System Architects, Infrastructure Vendors, and Customers to isolate problems, achieve resolution, and improve the operational stability of the platform.
• Patching and updating system software components and configurations.
• Documenting work performed in the trouble ticket system for communication and archival purposes.
• Developing and maintaining documentation, procedures and tools.

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have 5 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree
• Have experience maintaining Linux/Unix systems
• Have experience in fault detection, troubleshooting, trouble ticketing, escalation and other related operational concepts and processes
• Have fundamental understanding of the following protocols: TCP/IP, DNS, NTP, and HTTP
• Have the ability to write basic SQL queries
