Senior Quality Assurance Engineer, Software Defined Storage

Job Description:

At SUSE we're building the next-generation Software Defined Storage (SDS) solution, and are looking for a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer to join us as part of the SUSE Enterprise Storage team.
 

With a group of highly skilled professionals you will help shaping the future of software defined storage. You will be part of a truly international and distributed team which contributes to both the Ceph upstream project and SUSE's Enterprise Storage product.
 

As a member of this team, you will have the opportunity to work on, and contribute to, a number of technologies and open-source projects, including Ceph, Kubernetes, Rook (rook.io), Salt, Podman, Python, Go, C++ and more. We're looking for someone who is interested in everything from test automation, to physical hardware systems – someone who enjoys working on complex problems, and isn’t afraid to dig in to the full stack of a complex distributed system. You should have an analytical mind, experience with computer science concepts and development processes, and a keen interest to learn new things. You must be self-driven and willing to collaborate with subject matter experts - within the team, other parts of the company and upstream community.
 

Expected skills:

• You are passionate about quality and ensuring product excellence for our customers.

• Ability to communicate clearly via various means of communication (IRC, E-Mail, IM, Audio-/Video Conferencing)
• Demonstrable experience contributing to Open Source projects and interacting with their communities.

• Experience with continuous integration, and analyzing test failures.

• Ability to document and automate common tasks with a goal to automate everything.

• Experience with highly available and reliable clusters.

• Experience with at least one of the following programming languages: Python, C++ or Go.

• Highly proficient in English (written and verbal).
   

Desired skills:

• Degree in Computer Science (or equivalent) and 5+ years related work experience.

• Experience with Software Defined Storage - especially Ceph.

• Experience with container orchestration engines; knowledge of Kubernetes would be a plus.

• Experience with Docker/podman or other Linux-based container technologies.

• Experience with Configuration Management tooling (e.g. Salt, Ansible, Chef).

• Experience with Cloud Computing (OpenStack, AWS, or Azure.)

• Experience with automated testing frameworks (e.g. Jenkins, Mavin, Teuthology)
