Storage Engineer
NetApp IT Storage engineer provides extensive support for numerous ONTAP filers across various data centers, as well as the latest cloud storage solutions available through major providers such as AWS, Azure Cloud. This position holds significant responsibility in guaranteeing the performance, compliance, and security of deployed storage systems while maximizing their potential through integration with related systems, ensuring smooth and productive application performance.
The ideal candidate for this role possesses robust technical expertise, capacity to work collaboratively, exceptional communication skills, and a well-established history of evaluating, designing, deploying and maintaining enterprise-level storage products and services.
Roles and Responsibilities
• Evaluation and Deployment: Assessing and deploying various NetApp Storage Products (ONTAP filers, FSx ONTAP, CVO, etc.) in both NetApp Datacenters and Regional Cloud environments.
Implementing various ONTAP technologies like SVM DR/SNAPLOCK to meet backup requirements effectively.
• Lifecycle Management: Taking charge of the lifecycle management of NetApp ONTAP Filers, ensuring their continued efficiency and reliability.
• Security and Compliance: Ensuring that all NetApp ONTAP systems deployed in Datacenters and the Cloud adhere to strict security and compliance standards.
• Backup and Recovery: Defining robust Backup policies and overseeing the management of backup and recovery processes
• Incident Response: Overseeing incident response and resolution for storage-related issues, minimizing downtime, and ensuring a resilient storage environment.
• System Health Monitoring: Maintaining the health of deployed storage systems in both on-premises and cloud environments through NetApp's monitoring tools like OCUM, Cloud
Insights, and other vendor/cloud providers' tools.
• Implementation of ONTAP Technologies
• Automation: Automating storage provisioning for virtual machines (VMs) and streamlining day-to-day operations for NetApp storage products.
Job Requirements
• Thorough understanding of one or more of the following protocols, applications, and platforms: NFS, CIFS, SAN, iSCSI, TCP/IP, RAID, NetApp Storage System operating systems like
Data ONTAP, StorageGrid, and E-Series Operating System (EOS)
• Good knowledge of DNS, NIS and AD
• Ideally proficient in one or more languages suitable for infrastructure automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC), such as Ansible, Python, Bash, and PowerShell
• Proficiency in configuring, administering, and troubleshooting UNIX/Linux systems
• Comprehensive knowledge of storage-related security and best practices for system hardening
• Perform Capacity planning exercise while collaborating with application owners to forecast and meet capacity requirements efficiently.
• Drive Infrastructure automation initiatives across the board to solve operational challenges, build tools to monitoring and alerting.
• Excellent communication skills, strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in the following areas preferred:
- NetApp Cluster-Mode Storage Solutions and related technologies
- Data ONTAP operating system and NetApp High-Availability (HA) technology.
- NAS and/or SAN storage and the associated infrastructure
- Familiarity with the NetApp Storage Management Software Suite
- Identifying and resolving performance issues in NetApp storage solutions
- Expertise in one or more NetApp cloud solutions would be a plus
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related IT field, or equivalent professional experience
• Extensive experience (8+ years) in installation, management and support of enterprise storage systems.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to handling multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines.
• Must be Team-player, exceptional organizational, writing and communication skills, customer centric, highly motivated and able to work independently.
• NetApp Storage Certifications are a valuable addition to the qualifications
