Position Summary:

The Licensing Control group, Springer Nature’s contract management department, fulfils a central role within the company and ensures compliance of License agreements with national legislation, commercial practices and internal standards and policies.

The Licensing Coordinator is responsible for reviewing License Agreements, with a focus on standard license agreements for Institutional Sales. The role proactively checks, approves, and processes these to ensure that items are audit proof and minimize company risk. Licensing Coordinator works closely with the account support teams in the regions.

Responsibilities:

  • Prompt and accurate execution of the Licensing Control administrative activities according to guidelines while meeting key metrics e.g., First time right and turn-around time service level agreements.
  • Review and revision of draft license agreements and additional documentation against internal guidelines and policies (e.g. standard license agreement template, commercial policies, general accuracy of draft with respect to content listings, contract values, calculation of discounts etc.)
  • Communicate and resolve deviations in internal drafts with internal stakeholders
  • Assure accuracy and appropriateness of contract documentation and attachments
  • Raise issues as appropriate, and liaise and align with internal stakeholders, such as sales representatives and the Legal Department
  • Support the Legal Department by preparing case and issue summaries to facilitate swift resolution
  • Interact with other team members and be first point of interaction within Licensing Control to address standard questions with respect to contract issues
  • Accomplish completeness of documents to meet and exceed audit and compliance requirements
  • Ad hoc project work as needed.
  • Close cooperation with the Contract Specialist.

Skills:

  • Fluent in English and in 1 or more local regional language (both written and oral)
  • Ability to systematically analyze complex problems, draw relevant conclusions and implement appropriate solutions after alignment with internal stakeholders.
  • General understanding of contract law or license agreements/ Good understanding of commercial processes, including legal alignment
  • Experience in applying organizational standards when reviewing contracts and negotiating terms 
  • Strong verbal and written skills, particularly in English language, and ability to convey complex information in a way that others can readily follow   
  • Ability to work in a complex environment where alignment with various stakeholders may be required, however independently address and solve issues within the scope of the position 
  • Administration skills with respect to contracts and contract management
  • Multi-task and prioritize with appropriate sense of urgency and strong attention to detail  
  • Ability to proactively manage, report on projects and drive them to conclusion 

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or Diploma in related field, at but with relevant working experience will be considered.
  • At least two-year experience in review, negotiation and revision of contracts, preferably IP license agreements or worked in a law firm. OR understands the concept of License agreements/contracts
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office, in particular Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Good command of Chinese language, ability to communicate in main result areas in Chinese languages
