Reflecting on My Journey
As a Women in Tech Global Awards 2024 winner, what does this recognition mean to you, and how does it reflect your journey and impact in tech?
Being recognized as a Women in Tech Global Awards 2024 winner is both an honor and a testament to the collective efforts, resilience, and vision that have shaped my journey in the tech industry. This recognition isn’t just about me; it represents the impact of the incredible teams I've worked with, the innovative solutions we've built at Depth AI, and the broader mission to advance equity and inclusion in technology.
For me, this award symbolizes how far we’ve come as women leaders in a traditionally male-dominated industry. It reflects the ability to harness diversity—be it in perspective, talent, or experiences—and turn it into groundbreaking solutions. As a minority female founder leading advancements in imaging diagnostics technology and AI-driven healthcare solutions, this milestone also reinforces the importance of creating inclusive spaces where innovation thrives.
Throughout my career, I’ve strived to break barriers, mentor the next generation, and contribute to meaningful initiatives, whether it’s advancing digital transformation or making impactful contributions to government initiatives in healthcare, energy sustainability, and beyond. This award inspires me to continue amplifying voices, investing in emerging talent, and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in tech. It’s a moment to celebrate progress and a call to action to keep moving forward.
Tech Industry's Most Rewarding Aspects
In your experience, what is the most rewarding aspect of working in the tech industry, and how has it influenced your career path?
The most rewarding aspect of working in the tech industry is its unparalleled ability to drive meaningful change at scale. Technology has the power to solve problems that were once deemed insurmountable—whether it’s improving healthcare outcomes, advancing energy sustainability, or enabling equitable access to resources. Being at the forefront of innovation allows me to transform abstract ideas into tangible solutions that positively impact lives, which is incredibly fulfilling.
This sense of purpose has deeply influenced my career path. It’s why I co-founded Depth AI, where we focus on imaging diagnostics technology to address critical challenges in healthcare. Seeing our innovations contribute to better predictability and outcomes through advanced AI models is a constant source of motivation. Moreover, collaborating with leaders and teams to push the boundaries of what’s possible has fueled my passion for emerging technologies and reinforced the importance of mentorship and inclusion.
AI Technology's dynamic nature has also taught me to embrace adaptability. Every innovation brings new challenges, but also new opportunities to learn, grow, and lead. It has influenced not just my professional choices, but also how I approach leadership: as a continuous process of empowering others to innovate and thrive.
My Tech Career Milestone
Could you share a defining moment or a key achievement in your tech career that has been particularly impactful or meaningful to you?
One of the most defining moments in my tech career was when Depth AI successfully completed pilots and feasibility testing AI/ML initiatives while leveraging multiple foundational models in projects that would improve healthcare outcomes. This project was pivotal not just for its technical complexity, but because it demonstrated how AI could bridge gaps in healthcare by increasing predictability of medical diagnostics. Seeing our work translate into real-world impact for patients and providers was incredibly meaningful—it reinforced my belief in the transformative power of technology to improve lives.
Another key achievement was receiving recognition through awards like the U.S. Women in Commerce as recipient of the Innovation Award for our contributions to government agencies. These moments were deeply personal, as they reflected not just the hard work of my team but also the challenges overcome as a minority female founder in a male-dominated industry. They reminded me of the importance of representation and the responsibility to pave the way for others in tech.
Defining moments like these fuel my passion for innovation and inspire me to keep pushing boundaries.
