Motivation to Speak at the Conference
Are you excited to speak at the Women in Tech Global Conference and what motivated you to join our community of 100,000 women in tech, minorities, and allies?
I am very excited to join an immense network of thought leaders, advocates, and women professionals across the tech industry. I'm motivated to talk about an exciting and unprecedented publication meant to raise awareness of the impact of GenAI on women in tech, with a community where the message will resonate the most.
Background and Inspiration
Share with us about your background, your journey in tech, and what inspired you to develop your career in this direction?
My career direction at Boston Consulting Group, where I specialize in harnessing digital, data, and technology to empower businesses, is driven by a deep commitment to supporting women in technology and bridging the gender gap. My motivation stems from my personal journey; being the only woman to graduate with a BSc in Computer Science from Yale at the time, I frequently found myself as the sole female presence in tech environments. This unique position fueled my resolve to lead initiatives like Women in Technology in North America, aiming to ensure that women not only have a seat at the table but also thrive in the tech sector.
Why is the topic “Leading the GenAI revolution: How Women in Senior Tech Roles are Bridging the Gender Gap” important to you?
There is no question that employees will need to learn to use GenAI well to succeed in the future. However, from past trends, women are less likely to adopt new technology compared to men. If true for GenAI, there is a concern that the gender gap in tech could widen (currently only ~30% of tech employees are women in the US). Hence, it was incredibly important for me and the team to dig into this, test gender differences in GenAI adoption as well as understand root causes, and share a path forward.
Who would you advise to attend the Women in Tech Global Conference and why?
I recommend that current female tech professionals and leaders across functions (HR, Legal, Finance, Sales, Marketing, Engineering, IT, Customer Support), along with anyone eager to contribute to the advancement of women in technology, should attend this talk.
