There are still some persistent stereotypes surrounding frontend specialties. These roles and the skills required to perform these jobs are often considered "lesser" compared to their backend or devops counterparts. Frontend disciplines are often perceived as being easier or requiring a lower level of technical skills.

Many of these stereotypes are also present when it comes to women in tech, exacerbating an already skewed perception if you’re a female frontend dev. Tackling the stereotypes surrounding frontend specialties gives women a more fertile ground to develop themselves and be recognized for their talent.

All specialties must therefore be considered on an equal footing by recognizing that they all present different challenges and contexts. This philosophy must be enforced through both leadership and management to ensure that everyone becomes more sensitive to the realities and challenges of others.

It is also important to recognize that skills specialization in a field (specialist) is just as important as skills diversification (fullstack). Both profiles should be sought for and offer career development and opportunities.

At the end of the day, addressing those issues will alleviate their equivalents from a women perspective thus helping break the stereotypes and reduce prejudices.
