⚡️ Save the date: Women in Tech Global Conference 2023 will take place on May 9-12!

Are you excited to speak at the Women in Tech Global Conference and what motivated you to join our community of 100 000 women in tech, minorities, and allies?

I’m excited to speak at the conference because elevating women in technology is a passion of mine. For so long it has been a man-heavy industry and I am thrilled to be able to represent at a conference just for people like myself. I have only had one woman manager in my career so it is extremely important to me to be able to guide and grow other women like myself into management positions so younger women don’t end up in my situation with few women examples and mentors.

Share with us about your background, your journey in tech, and what inspired you to develop your career in this direction.

I got started in tech through the professional services side of the business, having come over from management consulting. But when I got pregnant with my first child, I knew traveling five days a week was not sustainable so I started looking for another opportunity within my company. Luckily for me, a role was open in product management and the manager was willing to take a chance on me. That’s how I got my start on the product side of tech. Since then I’ve moved into product marketing and I’ve loved the cross-functional nature of that.

Why is the topic “Championing Your Team: The Secrets to Success” important to you?

I mentioned that I have only had one woman manager in my career. And though I’ve had strong male mentors, I truly believe that having more women in management is important to show younger women what is possible. Whether it is the women on my team or the men, being a strong woman role model will help them see what women can do and how women can lead. I believe in a strong support system for my team and want to show how that strong support structure can be influential to both an individual’s success and a team’s success.

Who would you advise to attend the Women in Tech Global Conference and why?

Any woman looking to learn from other strong women would benefit from the Women in Tech conference. I would advise younger women who may not have as many women leaders in their lives to attend so they can listen and learn from people like myself. I would also advise women leaders to attend because we should always be learning and helping each other.
