This position is responsible for administering projects related to the design and implementation of networking solutions in support of Products and Customers. In this role you will design and implement networks to support new products and services and new business development initiatives. Additional responsibilities will include leading technical research, vendor management, support training, product testing, and standards conformance auditing and site equipment maintenance.
Primary Responsibilities
• Support Syniverse Network Infrastructure Engineering & Architecture (this may include MPLS Backbone, Provider and Customer edge, Data Centers, Cloud and Edge Compute networks, etc.)
• Create designs and perform network functionality testing based on Architectural designs and corporate strategic objectives
• Establish roadmaps to inform Product, Engineering and Operations teams on upcoming capabilities
• Establish governing principles of the infrastructure
• Participate in selection of networking technologies and products for implementation
• Analyze business requirements to develop technical network solutions and frameworks
• Translate business challenges into use cases and technical requirements
• Assist product development in the research and development of new technologies and product offerings
• Design and deliver cloud native solutions on major public cloud platforms such as AWS , Azure, and GCP.
• Design and implement complex solutions using Hybrid and Multi-Cloud architecture.
• SD-Wan Architecture & Development
• Proactively advise management on ongoing needs and issues related to network and security infrastructure
• Drive continuous improvement by leading efforts to improve the existing network infrastructure, monitoring tools, alarming capability, and recommending changes to enhance quality of service
• Participate in cross-functional meetings for service enhancement opportunities, tools development, and reporting enhancements
• Research industry standards provided by groups such as IEEE, IETF, GSMA etc.
• Research, develop and implement processes to test and evaluate new equipment and product features
• Provide training and mentoring to new employees or other departments
• Participate in industry forums, technical user groups, and technical symposiums representing Syniverse’s interests, as needed
• Bachelor’s degree in relevant area or equivalent work experience
• 10+ years IP networking experience
• Demonstrated IP network design experience.
• Demonstrated experience with public cloud infrastructure architecture (ex AWS, Azure,etc.)
• Demonstrated experience designing and implementing Hybrid Cloud solutions (Private Cloud + Public Cloud), including private to public cloud workload migrations.
• Expert level understanding of Routing protocols and Overlay - OSPF, BGP, MP-BGP, VRF, MPLS, DSCP/QoS, VXLAN, VPN. CCNP/JNCIP or other expert level certification a plus.
• Expert knowledge of routers and router administration
• Expert knowledge of LAN and WAN switching components.
• Strong experience with VMWare NSX. VCP-NV or higher certification a plus.
• Knowledge of Security Appliances and features- Palo Alto, CheckPoint, SRX, NSX etc.
• Knowledge and Experience in VPN Technologies and Deployments - IPSec, Site to Site VPN Solutions
• Knowledge of SD-WAN technologies
