Job Title: The Director of Events (m/w/d)

Locations: Berlin or Munich (hybrid working model)

The Director of Events will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of event planning and management, from sale through to execution on our established congresses under brands such as Pflege, WISO and MBD (Medizinisches Bildungszentrum Deutschland), alongside establishing and scaling new congresses as an internal service provider working with sales and marketing. This role requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record in managing large-scale events, excellent organizational skills with a certain level of seniority and the ability to lead a team effectively to deliver high quality events. The ideal candidate will have a passion for creating memorable experiences and a deep understanding of event logistics and budgeting, as well as the ability to build strong networks in the healthcare policy industry with Decision-makers and political influencers. 

Key Responsibilities: 

Strategic Planning: 

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive event strategy aligned with the organization's goals and objectives to expand the hybrid events at Springer Medicine in those segments that promise economic growth. 
  • Identify opportunities for new events and improvements to existing ones to enhance attendee experience and organizational impact. 
  • Work closely with the sales and the marketing teams to develop event concepts and implement event sales and marketing strategies. 

Network Building: 

  • Build and maintain a strong network of health policy influencers, hospital CEOs, and other key stakeholders in the healthcare industry. 
  • Cultivate relationships with sponsors, partners, and industry associations to enhance event participation and impact. 
  • Engage with high-level speakers, panelists, and moderators to ensure a diverse and impactful event lineup. 
  • Interact in a close co-operation within internal teams for example Sales, Editors

Event Management: 

  • Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of all events in Springer Medicine, including conferences, trade shows, corporate meetings, and special events, and those needed for our partners and customers. 
  • Ensure all events are delivered on time, within budget, and meet high-quality standards. 

Event Hosting and Presentation: 

  • Serve as a key host and presenter at events, effectively engaging audiences and representing the organization’s vision and objectives. 
  • Prepare and deliver compelling presentations that drive discussions on critical issues. 

Leadership and Team Management: 

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of event professionals, including coordinators and support staff, to deliver high-quality events. 
  • Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the events team. 

Budgeting and Financial Management: 

  • Develop and manage event budgets, ensuring cost-effective use of resources. 
  • Negotiate contracts with vendors, suppliers, and venues to secure the best terms and conditions. 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Event Management, Hospitality, Marketing, a Scientific or related field. Master’s degree preferred. 
  • Creative and strategic thinker with a passion for delivering outstanding and high-profile events, with the ability to host and present with strong public speaking and presentation skills in German and English. 
  • Brings a certain level of seniority and a certain network in this environment
  • Extensive experience in event conception, planning and management and
  • proven track record of successfully managing large-scale events from start to finish covering face to face, fully digital and hybrid events, preferably within the healthcare or health policy events space 
  • Ability to inspire, motivate and develop your team members. 
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and project management skills within the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. 
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with experience working with high-ranking experts and sponsors 
  • Proficiency in event management software and tools
