Session: Payment Systems are Hard but Don’t Have to Be. Build a Resilient Payment System and Team
Why are payment systems hard? Financial systems for money movement have existed for hundreds of years. Yet building a reliable payments system is complex, and companies large and small experience many pain points in doing so. In this talk, we will dig into the complexity, expose the challenges, and present methods to build resilient payment systems and teams. We will also address technologies being used to modernize payment operations, especially in business-to-business payments, which largely happen via bank transfers. We will focus on the complexity of building APIs for bank transfers as the infrastructure for money movement over bank rails is more nascent than the infrastructure for consumer e-commerce payments systems (i.e. card payment infrastructure). And we will provide solutions to help teams get payment operations quickly up and running so they can concentrate instead on growing their businesses and not on payment operations.
