Session: Good manager or/and good mum?
In the tech field, we mostly work in a male dominant environment, so the topic of maternity is very important for all women in this field. Especially when you are a manager with a high level of responsibility, there is always the question whether you can be a good manager and still be a good mum. During this presentation, we will talk about the different challenges during the three stages of maternity to see how we can find a balance between being a manager and being a mum.
Bio
Hasmik Osipyan is a software development manager at Synopsys, an electronic design automation company. She started her management career in 2019 after eight years of serving as a software developer for various international companies. During a career that spans more than ten years, Hasmik has worked not only in industry companies, but has also conducted her research at several well-known research institutions around the world, including the Imagineering Institute and the University of Geneva. While academia and industry may have many differences, this arrangement has provided her invaluable experience in both lines of work, which has helped her in all her achievements.
Hasmik has been honored with several awards, including the Synopsys Excellence Award, the Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship, the Best PhD Student of State Engineering University of Armenia in IT Sphere, etc. She is the author of numerous articles/books published at various prestigious conferences in the field of computer vision, artificial intelligence and GPU programming.
Hasmik is a PhD in engineering and holds a master’s degree in computer science from the National Polytechnic University of Armenia. In addition to her engineering knowledge, Hasmik expanded her experience also in the field of psychology and completed her second master’s degree at Yerevan State University.
