Are you an engineer or business professional with a keen, analytical mind, a consultative skillset, and an ability to mentor teammates? If so, this role could be a great fit for you. We are looking for someone with a strong business acumen, informal people leadership skills, and solid technical & analytical capabilities to help us use data-generated insights to enhance the Laser Print business. This role will interact with machine learning models, on occasion, and may maintain or modify previously created ML models, but this is NOT a role for someone who wants to build machine learning models all day, this is a role for someone who can confidently consult with internal partners and can readily use our big data capabilities in a collaborative manner to define and implement value creation strategies based on data.
Unique mastery and recognized authority on relevant subject matter knowledge including technologies, theories and techniques. Contributes to the development of innovative principles and ideas. Successfully operates in HP’s most complex disciplines. Provides highly innovative solutions. Leads large, cross-division functional teams or projects that affect the organization's long-term goals and objectives. May participate in cross-division, multi-function teams. Provides mentoring and guidance to lower level employees. Routinely exercises independent judgment in developing methods, techniques and criteria for achieving objectives. Responds to ad hoc analysis requests from across multiple Print business units and develops innovative analyses to address ad hoc support needs.
Manipulates and analyses exceptionally large data sets (potentially billions of rows of data) using industry standard tools and techniques -- extracts quantitative and qualitative findings and represent the results in crisp, readily used formats.
Maintains an understanding of Laser Print division strategic goals, business challenges and customer needs to support identification and development of novel analytic approaches that solve key business problems.
Prepares and presents findings of investigations and analyses to management, including executives – work output is frequently shared directly with or in response to direct requests from the CEO and/or Board of Directors; may serve as the acting team manager in the absence of the official team manager.

Proactively assists team members and the team manager, as required, to tackle needs, including executive requests, to drive the success of the team - has the focus of winning as a team.
Highly desire a candidate to help develop automated capabilities, using tools/capabilities (SQL, MS Excel, Python) that can be readily shared.
Knowledge & Skills
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, including data modelling, and the ability to readily work with very large data sets that can only be explored using big data tools, given the volume of data involved. SQL is the most utilized technical skill for this role (and for all roles within Big Data), so significant experience/skill with SQL is needed.
Ability to independently manage complex project objectives and complete multiple, simultaneous project tasks with little supervision; work on three or more unrelated activities in any workday is common.
Strong program and project management training and experience (including keen knowledge of toolsets).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English - the ability to crisply communicate technical topics to an executive audience is a must-have skill.
Knowledge of the HP Print business, especially the Laser and Commercial Print business, and the ability to see needs and develop resulting analytical capabilities that will propel the success of the business, is highly desired.
Strong skills with MS PowerPoint and MS Excel (especially valuable are skills in VBA, Power Query, DAX, M, and data model-based pivot tables/charts). Analysis in Jupyter Notebooks and other tools is common, but since the Business Analytics team interacts frequently with executives and non-technical teams, the output of analyses often needs to be presented in a format and tool that recipients are comfortable using (i.e., crisp PowerPoint slides and MS Excel pivot charts and pivot tables, which can be powered by SQL, DAX, and Power Query).
Working knowledge of Python and general, machine learning techniques is a plus (most machine learning models will be developed by other teams within the org, but the use and maintenance of Python-based machine learning models the other teams create, will be part of the Business Analytics team charter).

Education & Experience
Bachelor's, Master's, MBA or PHD degree in a technical (physics, engineering, computer science, etc.) or business field.
Typically, 10+ years’ experience including graduate or postgraduate research.
