In this role, you will work with a worldwide team to support New Relic's corporate governance and compliance worldwide - across India, Europe, Asia, and the Americas. You will be primarily responsible for working across functions to develop, implement and maintain scalable processes to ensure compliance with global corporate governance and regulatory requirements.
In addition, you will independently research and advise on a broad range of business and legal matters, in collaboration with external advisors and counsel, as well as internal subject matter experts and department leads. We'll need you to have excellent project management, communications, and organizational skills to interact with both internal departments and external firms while addressing complex issues in an accurate, clear, and detailed manner. What you'll do
- Work on a globally dispersed team within New Relic Legal primarily focused on corporate governance, corporate development, and M&A
- Collaborate with and support a wide variety of departments including finance and accounting, marketing, and stock administration
- Manage the administration of New Relic’s global corporate subsidiaries, including India governance
- Monitor trends in global corporate compliance to advise Legal department leadership
- Assist in drafting and reviewing corporate communications
- Evaluate issues from legal and business perspectives with a practical, business-oriented approach to problem solving
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to set, review, and improve policies and workflows for greater efficiency, collaboration, and risk management
This role requires
- 7+ years of corporate legal experience, which must include relevant time at a major law firm in the U.S., U.K., Singapore or Australia, along with 2+ years of in-house experience (which may include law firm secondments and in-house placements via alternative legal services providers)
- Extensive experience advising on corporate governance, compliance, and regulatory matters
- Excellent written, oral, and negotiation communication skills in standard English
- Flexibility and willingness to work on a broad range of legal matters
- Ability to work on your own as well as take a leadership role in collaborative projects involving personnel from various functional areas (Finance, Accounting, People Operations, etc.)
- Ability to prioritize multiple, often competing deliverables while managing expectations meeting deadlines
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to coordinate effectively and gain trust and confidence with personnel at many different levels
- Ability to work as a team member of the legal department in a scalable, autonomous and accountable manner, demonstrating flexibility across matter types and time zones
- Patience, good humor, and the ability to give and receive feedback graciously
- Active bar license in good standing in the state in which you reside
Bonus points if you have
- Masters of Law (L.L.M.) in international business law or similar subject
- Secondary bar license in a U.S. or European jurisdiction
- Understanding of software development, design, or product management processes
