Job Summary
Engineering Tools and Services (ETS) is responsible in providing infrastructure and tools that aims engineering productivity. ETS owns all engineering workflows right from starting new product till we ship the product to the customers. We support the core ONTAP product team supporting more than 2500 engineers. The team is a great mix of people ranging from NetApp Emerging Talent who had joined last year to one’s with 20+ years of solid development experience. The team has various levels of expertise across several skill sets. We Innovate new ideas in automation and tooling that enable defect prevention and simplifies our testing process.
As ONTAP drives up unit-test coverage, the number of intermittent failures is increasing, impacting all ONTAP developers. As Mts SW with this team focuses on ensuring the quality and stability of the ONTAP Unit test process by addressing intermittent failures and long-running tests, resolving common test failures, and collaborating with component owners to address component-specific issues.
Job Requirements
- Addressing Intermittent Test Failures: Identify the root cause whether intermittent failures originate from the build infrastructure, common test code issues or component specific issues.
- Handling Long-Running Test: Identify the root cause and potentially breaking up(segment) the tests.
- Technical debt (Managing Common Test Failures): Establish a system to alert users about recurring problems before code submission. Also, fix ONTAP/UT infra code to eliminate and prevent common issues.
- Resolving Component-Specific Issues: Identify any issues specific to a component and working with component owners to address the issues.
- Build Infra issue: Work with Build infrastructure team for resolution.
- Metrics: Generate relevant metrics to track the progress and quality of the unit tests.
Skills Required:
- Understand Unit Test code and Unit test infrastructure, Cxx test
- Proficiency in C/C++ , Python , Expect scripts.
- Experience in multi-threading.
- Ability to debug C/C++ programs or cores, with GDB experience as a bonus.
- Problem Solver: Ability to navigate complex challenges.
- Communicator: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective team collaboration.
Education
- A Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, a Master degree, or a PhD; or equivalent experience with 2 to 4 years of experience.
