The Role

We are actively searching for Director, HR Business Partner (HRBP) in Tokyo.  The role is expected to plan and execute on HR strategies to support business growth of Kyndryl Japan.

Successful candidates will have an HR Generalist background and will support the VP of Japan HR in establishing and executing HR programs and initiatives to drive business results, increase engagement as an Employer of Choice. This position partners closely with senior leaders and all HR team members to provide tactical and strategic support. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 7 years of Human Resources Experience (HR Generalist) and key to this role is experience with global alignment in CoEs, experience with Recruitment (new grads and career hiring) and ER/LR in Japan. This position requires both Japanese and English fluency.

Kyndryl Japan was established in 2021. This role will be an exciting role with the prospect for growth as the company is strongly expanding the business in Japan.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide proactive consultation to senior leaders to drive people agenda, in support of business growth in Japan

  • Develop and execute a life-cycle approach to HR programs including talent management, compensation cycles, and performance management

  • Team up with Recruiting team to accelerate external hiring for both new grads and mid-career hiring

  • Drive programs that build leadership pipeline focusing on talent development and retention.

  • Handle complex and sensitive issues requiring analysis, problem-solving in line with local legislation

  • Analyze People Insights Views and translate them into effective initiatives.

  • Lead and facilitate organizational design and engagement survey action planning that drive culture and mindset change.

  • Ensure to implement successful HR transformation in Japan by working colaborately with the support of global CoE teams.

  • Foster ID&E culture and create inclusive workplace for every employees

  • Manage one of the subsidiaries and ensure to comply legal requirements in Japan, including PwD ratio, ER/LR regulations and Diversity requirements


Who You Are

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 7+ years' HR experience as an HRBP or HR Generalist

  • Working in a global, cross-cultural, and matrixed environment highly preferred

  • Strong business and HR acumen

  • Organizational, critical and logical thinking, analytical skills and problem solving skills

  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting

  • Positive engagement with multiple partners

  • Adaptability and agility in dealing with ambiguous situations and diverse culture in a rapidly changing market

  • Demonstrated collaborative skills and ability to work well within a team

  • High degree of proficiency MS Office Suite

  • Expert knowledge with Workday preferred

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Bilingual Japanese/English is required
