Session: The Magic of Unicorns: The Powerful Impact of Women Leaders on Tech Organisations
Women at the top remain unicorns.
There are more John's as CEO than women. What do I mean by unicorns
Often only one in room
The more senior the less people look like you
Succeed despite being a woman, work harder and give more
Create change, shift attitudes and open new possibilities.
The tech world has changed, and is changing yet the changes in leadership are slow and lockdown increased the burden on women, with more leaving the industry.
It will take 257 years to close the global gender pay gap. So our children, children, children, children might see the change.
With so much change it's time to change. The benefits off more women leaders are proven, longer tenure, lower recruitment costs, more loyalty, more creativity and above all higher bottom line profits.
Yet women at the top remain unicorns, with more John's as CEO in Fortune 500.
Where to start to change this?
Inclusive Recruitment and promotion, at all levels.
Supportive programmes and mentoring, develop skills women.
Men understanding their role, to support women.
Clear policies on what is and is not expected.
Safe and fair cultures, coaching led and with inclusivity at the heart of it.
Not anyone person to solve, with everyone and all of us. What will you do differently after today?
