Session: Failure is for the Fabulous
Fear of failing: it’s common, can be paralyzing, and is the source of many damaging behaviors. While failures are often unavoidable, they can be a catalyst for opportunity. For example, Bill Gates and Paul Allen’s experience starting their failed company, Traf-O-Data, prepared them to launch Microsoft a few years later. Reflecting on this, Paul Allen stated “In my experience, each failure contains seeds of your next success - if you are willing to learn from it”.
So if we’re destined to experience failure, what can we do to turn those failures into future success?
Join senior engineers from Intel, Microsoft, and Solidigm for a panel discussion on our most fabulous failures! We’ll share our personal stories and how we’ve cultivated the “seeds” of our failures and turned them into growth opportunities. Bring your questions, share your stories, and engage with us as we tackle failure head-on.
Bio
* (Moderator) Erin Rasmussen has been an engineer at Intel for 7 years, working on Memory Controller validation and design. She has also spent the majority of her career contributing to D&I initiatives at Intel and leading various Employee Resource Groups at both the site and corporate levels.
* (Panelist) Rose Carignan is a senior technical program manager at Microsoft where she drives future power and performance improvements for video features on Windows. She started her career as a firmware engineer at Intel where she worked on Optane Persistent Memory, and in parallel earned her masters in Electrical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University. Rose's personal and career failures have led her to believe that moments of failure are a tremendous opportunity for learning.
* (Panelist) Tiffany Kasanicky is a systems software architect in Intel's Data Center and AI Group focused on designing the reset and boot sequences for Intel's server platforms. She has over 20 years of experience leading the architecture, design, and execution of system solutions and delivering software products, primarily focused on low-level hardware enabling related to storage and memory.
