SAP Monitoring Team is an Engineering team that develops and supports New Relic’s SAP monitoring Solution Product. The Lead SAP ABAP Developer will play a critical role in designing, developing, and implementing innovative SAP Monitoring Solutions. This position requires a highly skilled and experienced individual with a deep understanding of ABAP programming, software development best practices, and a proven ability to deliver high-quality, performant solutions.
What you’ll do
SAP Monitoring Solution Development:
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of complex SAP monitoring solutions.
- Develop custom monitoring programs, interfaces, and enhancements to collect and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Integrate SAP monitoring solutions with existing New Relic observability platforms.
- Develop real-time data collection and analysis capabilities.
- Proactively identify and address potential performance bottlenecks and system issues.
Full Development Lifecycle:
- Lead the entire software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering and design to development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
- Ensure adherence to software development best practices, including agile methodologies, code reviews, and version control.
SAP Expertise:
- In-depth knowledge of SAP ABAP programming, including modules such as ALE/IDOC, BAPI, Workflow, and CDS views.
- Experience with SAP HANA and its development tools.
- Proven experience working with various SAP modules (SD, MM, FI, HR, cFIN, PP, PM, etc.).
- Strong understanding of SAP integration technologies (IDOC, RFC, BAPI, web services, proxies).
User Interface Development:
- Experience with SAP user interfaces (Dynpro, ALV, Fiori) for developing user-friendly monitoring dashboards.
- Ability to design and develop customer-facing interfaces for SAP monitoring solutions.
Performance Tuning:
- Deep understanding of SAP performance tuning techniques.
- Optimize ABAP code and database queries for optimal performance.
- Conduct performance testing and analysis to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
Team Leadership & Mentorship:
- Guide and mentor junior developers.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of team processes and standards.
Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of Java and JavaScript.
- Experience with SQL and database concepts.
- Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
Communication & Collaboration:
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
Documentation:
- Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for all developed solutions.
This role requires
- Proven Experience: 10+ years of hands-on experience as an SAP ABAP Developer with at least 5 years of experience in developing SAP monitoring solutions.
- Leadership & Mentorship: Proven experience leading and mentoring junior developers.
- Technical Expertise: Deep expertise in SAP ABAP programming, SAP modules, integration technologies, and user interface development.
- Problem-solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Self-starter: Highly motivated and self-directed with the ability to work independently.
Bonus points if you have
- Experience in providing SAP consulting services to clients is a significant plus.
