The Desktop Build Group (DBG) works closely with Bloomberg’s existing and prospective clients to find solutions to business needs using Bloomberg’s API for Excel and Python. Last year we delivered over 2500 projects to clients and our API solutions on the Bloomberg Terminal are used by over 120,000 financial professionals. We are a global team with colleagues based in London, New York, San Francisco, Sao Paulo, Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo and Sydney.
What's the role?
You will use your financial markets knowledge to consult with Bloomberg clients or prospective clients, helping them to develop and implement their investment strategies and research on leveraging our Excel APIs, VBA, our cutting edge query language (BQL) and new Python based quant platform (BQNT).
You’ll directly impact our revenue by working closely with our Sales teams to develop new tactical desktop applications to sell Bloomberg Terminals. Your role will involve full life-cycle development, from initial demos to prospective clients, requirement gathering, prototyping, implementation, deployment and adoption. In addition to software development, you will be expected to create resources and client-facing content that is both strategic in its appeal to our audience, while also taking advantage of current events in the marketplace.
We'll trust you to:
- Partner with Sales teams to build tactical Excel, Python, Power BI, and BQuant solutions to increase revenue opportunities for the company
- Provide assistance on new strategies or migration projects the clients wish to implement by using Bloomberg APIs
- Work on projects to provide short-term product gap solutions for the Bloomberg Terminal
- Provide continued support for clients to ensure adoption of BQuant Desktop
- Maintain and support Excel models accessible via the Bloomberg Terminal
- Work closely with our Product Development and Software Engineering teams to help drive improvements to our Excel APIs
Training and team support will allow you to gain:
- In depth knowledge of the Terminal and Bloomberg APIs
- A deep understanding of financial markets and investment processes on both buy-side and sell-side
- Experience of open source Python technologies for advanced data visualizations, widgets and analytics
You’ll need to have:
- Minimum 3 years of experience working in financial services or a financial technology company
- Experience developing financial models using MS Excel/Python
- Experience in pitching or providing support on quant products / research to external clients
- A strategic mindset and proven commercial acumen which allows you to weigh up the business opportunities of a project before execution
- Confidence to have highly articulate and consultative interactions with clients
- Demonstrated continuous career growth within an organisation
- Strong presentation and communication skills in English and Mandarin Chinese
