Academic excellence awards in STEM shine a spotlight on women's accomplishments and can serve as a launchpad for further success in technology fields. They are essential for celebration and representation but are not a panacea for the entrenched gender gap in technology. To achieve gender equity, there must be a concerted effort to tackle the root causes of this disparity, including changing societal perceptions, providing equal opportunities, and fostering a culture of inclusion within STEM environments.
